Reddit developers are implementing Arbitrum rollups to scale the community token system. After the solution is deployed in the Rinkeby test network, it will be launched in the main Ethereum network.
The Reddit development team announced that it will use the second-level solution of the Ethereum Arbitrum to scale the Moons and Bricks token system.
“We are scaling the Reddit community tokens with the help of Arbitrum! Today we are starting the deployment of a new roll-up of the second level of Ethereum using the Arbitrum technology. We will conduct testing in Rinkeby before deploying the solution in the main Ethereum network, ” the administration of Reddit said.
Arbitrum is one of several rollups that are currently being developed for Ethereum. These are second-level solutions that process and store transaction data in a sidechain before combining transaction packets into the main Ethereum network. Ethereum developers hope to solve the problem of high commissions with the help of rollups in the short term and with the help of sharding after the full deployment of Ethereum 2.0.
Initially, Reddit is deploying Arbitrum in the Rinkeby test network and plans to transfer the solution to the main Ethereum network in the future, if everything goes according to plan. The integration should speed up the Moons and Bricks token transactions and reduce the gas fee.
“You will notice that transactions are executed much faster, and once you create a Vault, you will no longer have to send a request for Moons/Bricks every month. They will simply appear in your Vault, as if by magic!”, the developers of Reddit explain.
Despite the fact that other solutions for scaling Ethereum are currently being developed, for example, Optimistic Rollups and ZK-Rollups, the Reddit team believes that Arbitrum is “the most promising scaling technology for Community Points”. Among the main advantages of Arbitrum, the Reddit team highlighted decentralization, convenience for developers and broad support for the ecosystem.
“Today’s launch is a big step forward, but our work is far from complete. Our goal is to bridge the gap for mass adoption and attract millions of users to the blockchain industry, ” the developers of Reddit concluded.
Recall that in January, a Reddit employee, known under the pseudonym jarins, announced a partnership between the company and the Ethereum Foundation — a non-profit organization that supports the development and development of Ethereum.
